Jain Dal (Without Onion & Garlic)

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup toor dal pigeon peas
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 2 green chilies chopped
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt to taste

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula
  • Small pan for tempering
  • Pressure cooker

Method
 

  1. Wash and boil toor dal until soft.
  2. In a pan, heat oil and add cumin, cloves, and cinnamon.
  3. Add ginger and green chilies, sauté lightly.
  4. Mix in the cooked dal, salt, and lemon juice.
  5. Simmer for 5 minutes and serve hot with rice or roti.
